Why am I sharing this with you? Because… “Facts tell, stories sell” Most people are inundated with facts and have a limited attention span for them. However, stories, hold their attention longer and they just prefer them. Here’s why: People don’t want to be sold but they love to buy
Don’t overwhelm your customers with facts, features and statistics (yawn). This will not spark conversation and it won’t lead to sales. Do you want them interested in what you’re saying (and selling)? Share a story or experience that people can relate to and then end with a question that leads them to ask how they too can achieve the benefit that you are sharing. Because who cares if your product contains a special ingredient or your service costs less than the other guys? No one. Share a story about how that special ingredient helped you (or someone you know) look better, feel better or even transformed a life! Now that’s powerful! Use and share stories as a way to excite your customers and get them to imagine themselves using your products or service! Serving Before SellingPeople are smart and savvy these days and they are looking for real and honest people to connect with. They want to do business with people they know, like and trust, people who care about who they are, and what they are struggling with. People who can provide a quick and easy solution to what they are looking for.
Position Yourself as the ExpertVerify that you understand their needs and wants and offer helpful tips and advice on how they can achieve the results they want Based on what you said about _________________ (their struggle)…I recommend ____________(your solution) What, Why, How (This is WHAT I am using/recommending, This is WHY I have chosen it specifically for you, This is HOW you use it at home) Educate, Inspire and EntertainEducate your customer on how your product and service can benefit them based on what they expressed in an inspiring or entertaining way Share a helpful story about how the product or service has benefitted you or someone you know Demonstrate how to use the products or enjoy the service through an informative tutorial or live lesson Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and even mess up a little. People like it when you are real and relatable. Be authentic and build your brand (more on this in other articles!). That inspires people to be bold and put themselves out there too. Make it engaging and even poke fun at yourself. We all need to connect with others and humour is the very best way to do that. Even if you don’t consider yourself naturally funny, smiling and laughter is contagious. Solve Their Problems, Even Before They Know |
